The après-ski in Europe can be ranked as some of the best in
the world. With many resort offering a whole host of nightlife options to suit
every taste, it's easy to see why the world's skiing community can't get enough
of these fun and lively resorts. Whether you simply want to spend your evenings
in a chilled and relaxed atmosphere with gluhwein in hand, or party on down
till sunrise in a vibrant nightclub, there will be a resort to suit you. If the

St Anton, Austria
Long regarded as one of the best apres-ski resorts in the
world, St Anton is often seen as the party capital of the Alps. The resort
boasts nearly 100 bars and restaurants, among these are the world famous
Mooserwirt and Krazy Kangaruh, two of the most celebrated bars in the Alps -
the Mooserwirt claims to sell more than 5000 litres of beer per day. Another
famous venue is Underground, which offers punters a free schnaps with every
drink.
Mayrhofen, Austria
This Austrian resort attracts a youthful and energetic crowd
with a particularly strong British influence. Numerous bars and discos line the
streets and they stay open until the small hours, pick of the bunch are the
White Lounge and the Ice Bar. Mayrrhofen's reputation as a party location is on
the rise thanks to its annual Snowbombing festival. At the end of the winter
season the weeklong festival combines club nights, live music and competition
on the slopes.
Val d'Isere, France
Boasting some of the best après-ski in Europe, this top
French resort has a reputation for attracting a large British contingent. Val
d'Isere is the original home to the ever expanding Dick's Tea Bar chain of
nightclubs, having first opened for business in 1979, more than 1000 customers
a day filter through its doors during the winter season. Of course, Dick's is
now just one of many fun après-ski venues throughout the resort, other notable
mentions go to Cafe Face and Saloon.
Verbier, Switzerland
This exclusive resort attracts a lively crowd with its
numerous bars, cabins, pubs and
luxury ski chalets. Verbier is home to an abundance of world famous
nightclubs, the kind of places people like to be 'seen' in. A big plus for the
resort is its compact nature, meaning that almost all of the action can be
found on a single, 400 metre strip of road, the Rue de Medran. Best known of
the local bars is Le Pub Mont Fort, which is rumoured to sell the most beer in
all of Switzerland.
Saalbach, Austria
Another top Austrian resort for party goers, the apres-ski
here starts early and will often happen simultaneously with the skiing. A
popular haunt within the resort is Bauer's Ski-Alm, boasting indoor and outdoor
bars, a lively and eclectic variety of music and a great multi-national
ambiance. The Saalbach resort attracts a predominantly Dutch, Scandinavian,
British and German contingent, providing a great variety of people and cultures.
Another local highlight is the Hinterhag Alm, always packed early, the live
band and gluhwein on offer provide a vibrant atmosphere.
