Isn't Technology Wonderful?:iPad 2 Review

By on 09:24

While I’m no tech genius, I certainly consider myself to be pretty Iinternet savvy. I work for an e-commerce company and manage social media and SEO for Handbag Heaven and Travel Products. I spend a great deal of my work life and home life online and log a good 10-12 hours daily surfing and working online. I know my stuff when it comes to staying connected! I’m going to review my most recent tech purchase, the iPad 2.
To be honest, my husband and I never thought we’d need an iPad. We each own an iPhone, I own a Macbook, he’s got the Mac desktop computer, and we thought having another device was just unnecessary. However, when my husband got back on the job market this past month we decided it was time to get the iPad. He’s a graphic designer and has found that sharing his design portfolio is much easier and more dynamic on an iPad. Because we felt it was important for him to stay relevant as a designer, we went ahead and purchased it.
We bought the iPad 2, 16 GB, 3GS and wifi capabilities. We were originally going to purchase just wifi and cut down on the price, but the thought of having him stuck without Internet when he was working with clients just didn’t make sense. The great thing about having the 3G option was the fact that you can sign up for it on a month-to-month basis. If he isn’t accepting freelance work for awhile - we’ll knock the 3G off and just use wifi.
Because we already own multiple Apple products the new iCloud feature is really awesome for us. It stores all of your music, photos, documents, and more and pushes all of that info to your device. That means if you buy music on iTunes or have photos on your desktop computer, you can have automatic access to it through iCloud. It’s an auto-sync feature that is so effortless and awesome.
I’ve actually spent more time using it than my husband has, which is ironic considering we mainly purchased it for his work use. We only own one television so if he’s occupied with that in one room I can watch movies and TV shows on the iPad in my bed without using my Macbook. The iPad is solid enough to hold and do work on, but it’s so lightweight (1.33 lbs!) that it doesn’t overheat or feel too heavy sitting on my lap -- a problem I’ve had with my Macbook. The new operating system is amazing -- the screen, the apps, and the usability is just amazing.
Even if you think you’ve got your bases covered with mobile devices and computers, the iPad is definitely worth the cost. It’s great for travel, awesome for work and meeting with clients, and perfect for at-home entertainment. As with most Apple products, this gets 5 stars from me!
My love for fashion runs deep, as does my affinity for hoarding hand bags. As a writer for HandbagHeaven.com, I’m always looking to keep up with trends and find new ideas for ways to find designer inspired handbags.
